General Podiatry.

General Podiatry.

At Structurally Strong Podiatry we have pretty much seen it all.

We can provide routine podiatry services that include assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the following:

Thickened and discoloured nails

Fungal nail infections

Ingrown Toe Nails.

If they are seen quickly before infection sets in they can usually be treated conservatively without the need for local anaesthesia and a nail wedge resection. If conservative treatment fails or the ingrown toe nail is too severe then we can perform a Nail wedge resection under anaesthetic which can cure problematic ingrown toe nails.

If you are concerned about the look or feel of your toe nails and or if they are causing you pain don’t put it off any longer make an appointment. Don’t be embarrassed we have seen and treated all sorts of toe nail problems over the years and we are very skilled at providing you with the right diagnosis and treatment to improve the feel and look of your nails. Nail disorders can sometimes be a sign of underlying systemic disease so don’t delay in seeking help.

Calluses and Corns.

These are very common conditions that are regularly treated by podiatrists. There are many different causes but the most common contributing factors are ill fitting footwear, toe deformities such as hammer toes or bony prominences from injuries or operations. These can cause areas of pressure when walking that can cause calluses and corns to form.

Correct diagnosis and assessment is vital and self -treatment with “corn pads” or“corn cures’ should be avoided until you have had an assessment from our expert podiatrist. Treatment is directed at painless removal of the corn and/or callus and then comprehensive advice on preventing or reducing the chances of reoccurrence. Corns are often misdiagnosed as Plantar Warts!! Warts are caused by a virus corns are not!! Make sure you get a proper diagnosis before you start any form of treatment!

Plantar Warts.

Other wise known as “Verrucas”, are a relatively common condition usually caused by Human Papilloma Viruses (HPVs).Plantar warts can regress (heal) spontaneously without treatment, however they can remain a problem for several years and often  treatment is required. Plantar warts may be single, multiple or mosaic and can present as painless or painful. Correct diagnosis is vital and we can advise you on the best way to treat them in order to get the best outcome.
